“It’s awesome to see how far my son comes each season. He starts off nervous and shy, but by the end, he’s made a connection with several coaches and other kids and really opens up and participates. He just has more confidence.”
– parent of Adapted Football player

Our Achievement Centers for Children Cleveland Browns Adapted Football League helps develop players’ skills based on their abilities, while enjoying sports with their friends. A large group of dedicated volunteers give “their” player individualized attention, guidance, and encouragement. Adapted football is played as a modification of flag football and may have adaptations in the equipment and rules to be inclusive and offer meaningful experiences for all. Teams are organized into broad groups based on disabilities which allow players to compete against other players with their same skill level.

Our adapted football league consists of four divisions for co-ed youth 7 years and older with physical limitations and/or cognitive/developmental delays. Players compete against individuals of similar skill level.

The 2021 Adapted Browns Football season will run June 5 – July 31

New for 2021

Players and families now have the option for weekday sessions throughout the season that best fit their schedules. These Skills & Drills sessions will be held weekdays at Camp Cheerful and then players and families will be invited to be a part of Friday Night Lights, the All-Star Game and all other special events held during the season. All players and families will have the first session at Camp Cheerful on June 5th to start the season!

Saturday Skills & Drills at Camp Cheerful

This program will have a set timeslot (1 hour) for practice every Saturday morning throughout the season. This group will rotate between drills while learning the game of football and socializing with new teammates. Saturday mornings Skills & Drills will have stations lead by coaches and volunteers ready to jump in to help our players.

Browns Adapted Football Wheelchair Team

We are just waiting to confirm Monday nights at Grace Church again for this season and will have a set plan in case of rain delays. We will meet once a week for a hybrid practice and game experience every night. Based on total number of players, we will split into

teams, go through skills and drills and then play a game. Our Wheelchairs teams will be invited to every special event that we hold throughout the season.

NFL Flag Division

This new program will have limited roster spots available for more experienced players and will practice once a week and then play games Saturday afternoons. These teams will have experienced coaches, officials and all practices, plays, field size and game rules will be modified. These teams will NOT have one-on-one volunteer support and players should be able to run, pass and play independently under the supervision of coaches, referees and the league director. We will base these teams off of current NFL Flag rules and regulations to best allow athletes to get a more competitive experience while still learning the game of football the right way and promoting fair play and sportsmanship.

Weekday Skills & Drills at Camp Cheerful

This will be held on a weekday evening at Camp Cheerful. This program will have a specific day and time for each practice and players will be invited to all special events on the weekends throughout the season. Parents are encouraged, but not expected, to help volunteer during that time for the season but other volunteers and coaches will be leading drills and stations. Please fill out what day works best for you to attend practice Tuesday – Thursday*.

Covid-19 Impact On Our Season

We will be following all Responsible Restart Ohio Youth, Collegiate, Amateur, Club, and Professional Sports guidelines for this season.
  • Everybody must wear a mask or face shield upon arrival to their practice/game.
  • Players and all guests will have their temperature taken upon arrival. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 will be asked to leave for that day and further information will be gathered via phone after the session ends.
  • Players and guests will be asked to sanitize their hands at the sign in table.
  • Players may take their mask or face shield off during practice or games for the duration of their designated time on the field but they are asked to social distance whenever possible.
  • Once they exit the playing field, they must be wearing a mask or face shield to walk the property.
  • Spectators, coaches and volunteers must be wearing a mask at all times and maintain social distancing.
These procedures are subject to change throughout the season and whenever we are using another facility for Friday Night Lights and All-Star Game celebrations.
